A Productive, Internship-less Summer
THIS BLOG POST IS FROM APRIL 30, 2017.
No internship? No problem!
For many college students, summer is the season for internships. But being surrounded by people excited about their internship plans can sometimes leave those without plans feeling unaccomplished.
Worry no more! Just because you don’t have an internship for this summer doesn’t mean your summer has to be worthless.
Here are some ways to get ahead without an internship:
Option one: Summer classes
Take some summer classes to get ahead in your studies or get on track to graduate early. You could also use this time to take classes for a new minor.
Option two: Summer job
The summer is a perfect time to work long hours and save up money. You will thank yourself later when you don’t have to work as hard during the semester.
Option three: Certifications
Many professional positions require certifications from their prospective employees. Now is your chance to earn a few. Get to work on those certifications now, and your résumé will be ready in no time.
Option four: Volunteer work
Find a cause that means a lot to you, and volunteer your time locally or internationally. You won’t regret putting in the time to help others.
Option five: Travel
Traveling provides an unconventional type of learning that will benefit you wherever you go.
